MERIDIAN - The Bayview Whitecaps defeated Madison County 9-6 to win the state Babe Ruth 15-and-under baseball tournament Saturday at Settlers Park.
The win in the eight-team tournament advances Bayview to the regional tournament at Klamath Falls, Ore., in two weeks.
In the title game, Bayview scored six runs in the fourth inning to erase a 5-0 deficit. Troy Carr hit a two-run triple for the winners in the seventh inning.
Earlier Saturday, Bayview defeated Lewiston 10-2 in the semifinals behind Casey Rogstad, who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning.
Bayview went 2-1 in pool play Wednesday through Friday to advance to Saturday's semifinals. Bayview defeated East Boise 20-3, lost to Idaho Falls 4-3 in eight innings, then beat Chubbuck 9-3.
